New York Fashion Week kicks off in style

NEW YORK, NY, United States (UPI) -- Trendsetters and stylemakers are in New York for the city`s annual Fashion Week, dedicated this year to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Gwen Stefani, David Bowie, Destiny`s Child, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Alicia Keyes and Shakira were just a few of the personalities kicking off the weeklong festivities at Radio City Music Hall Thursday night, the New York Post reported.

Proceeds from the star-studded Fashion Rocks concert were donated to hurricane relief efforts.

Destiny`s Child wore outfits designed by Beyonce`s mother`s label, House of Dreon, while Stefani modeled a white dress from her label, L.A.M.B.

A record number of celebrities are expected to attend the festivities, during which 70 top designers will unveil their collections for next spring and summer, the Post said.
