New York City Approves Hybrid Taxis
NEW YORK -- Hybrid taxi cabs that use both electric and gasoline engines could be on the road by this fall in New York City. The city's taxi and limousine commission has approved the idea of using hybrid taxis pending hearings in September.The hybrid cars use half the gasoline of the traditional cabs, but would offer less leg room in the back seat.TLC chairman Matthew Daus said the fuel economy and reduction in gas emissions outweighs the comfort issue.
